[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment (Minister Kim, Eun-Kyung) held the launch ceremony for the 7th Central Environmental Policy Committee (hereinafter the Policy Committee) on February 1.
The Policy Committee is composed and operated in accordance with the Framework Act on Environmental Policy and it will play a key role to review and advise on important environmental policies such as national environmental plans for the next two years.
142 specialists and civil activists participated in this 7th Policy Committee, covering various fields such as natural environment, resource circulation, environmental economy, climate atmosphere, and water.
In the ceremony, the announcement of the Ministry’s work plans for 2018 was followed by a talk concert between the Minister and the members of the committee.
It was the first time that experts from various fields had participated and presented their opinions in the process of establishing the plans.
The Ministry of the Environment announced its intention to strengthen the governance of people’s participation as one of the four goals stated in the vision newly established last year. This talk concert was promoted as a communication effort to listen to the voices of the public and reflect them in the policy.
