[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Seoul Metropolitan Government will start electric bus service and lead reducing fine dust in the transportation sector. The pilot project will begin operation on a bus No. 1711 from November 15 and expand to 29 electric buses for three routes (No. 1711, No. 3413, No. 6514) by the end of the year.
The service interval is from at least 8 minutes to maximum 35 minutes, and the arrival time of the bus is expressed on the Bus Information Terminal (BIT) at the bus stop where the bus passes, thereby enhancing the convenience of the citizens.
Electric buses are considered environmentally friendly as they do not have air pollutants when they are driven.
Seoul plans to prepare a "Seoul-type electric bus standard model" by continuously monitoring the performance of vehicles and batteries, safety, and convenience during the trial period and adopt electric buses in the future.
“Seoul will make a paradigm shift to eco-friendly public transportation that does not emit pollutants through this demonstration project, and will promote the development of domestic electric bus technology and make more efforts to make sustainable Seoul in the future,” said an official at the Seoul Government.
