[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to expand education for social disaster prevention workers to all areas from next year.

The government will designate 22 public education institutions as social disaster education institutions and carry out full-scale professional education in all areas of social disasters such as fire, collapse, traffic accidents and marine accidents.

The curriculum for social disasters, which is highly likely to occur in regions, will be opened at 16 municipal and provincial education centers to provide disaster response education to local government officials.

In addition, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety plans to form a ‘Social Disaster Education Council’ to operate a cooperative system among central government, local government and experts to systematically promote education on social disaster management workers.

“To strengthen our ability to respond to social disasters that are becoming more complex and diverse, we need to provide professional education for those in charge of disaster safety,” said an official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. “As an organization that oversees and supports disaster safety, we will actively cooperate with related agencies to prevent social disaster and strengthen its response capabilities.”
