The Ministry of Environment will increase the number of eco-friendly cars (electric and hydrogen cars) to 105,000 by the end of the year, 497,000 by 2022 and 3.85 million by 2030 and will increase the demand and supply of eco-friendly cars through subsidy policies and review of mandatory sales of eco-friendly vehicles.

In particular, it is planning to supply 100,000 electric vehicles by end of this year, 430,000 by 2022, and 3 million by 2030.

The charging stations will also be expanded to 10,000 by 2022 and 15,000 by 2030.

“It is the transportation sector, including diesel cars, that accounts for the largest portion of fine dust emissions in the metropolitan area,” said Rep. Shin Chang-hyun of the ruling Democratic Party. “It is necessary to actively review a system that imposes a certain percentage of automobile sales volume as eco-friendly cars such as electricity and hydrogen cars.”
