[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The ‘2019 ASEAN-ROK Ministerial Meeting on Forestry’ will be held at the Lotte Hotel in Seoul on October 31, which will bring together the forest ministers of Korea and the 10 member countries of the ASEAN.

At the meeting, forest ministers from each country will discuss the vision of future forests under the theme of ‘The Forest of All for Prosperity and Peace.’

The main agenda includes discussing achievements and future cooperation, seeking co-prosperity by utilizing forests, and building consensus on contributing to peace through forests.

The agenda and declaration of the meeting included people, prosperity and peace, which are key elements of the New Southern Policy.

“Korea and ASEAN have a mutual trust relationship based on the cooperative efforts made in the forest sector,” said an official from the Korea Forest Service. “We will share technology and policies to create peace and increase income through forests beyond technology exchanges that create and nurture forests.”
