[The Hwankyung Ilbo] Diversification of water sources was reflected in the 5th Comprehensive National Territorial Plan (2020 ~ 2040), which was reviewed and approved at the 51st Cabinet Meeting on December 3.  

The 5th Comprehensive National Territorial Plan announced by the government pointed out the lack of management and utilization of water and marine resources as problems and analyzed that measures need to be taken to diversify water sources according to the demands of clean and safe water sources. 

Based on this awareness, the 5th Comprehensive National Territorial Plan included creating future value of national territory resources and enhancing utilization as one of the major policy tasks, and classified diversifying water sources and securing a stable supply of water as detailed tasks. 

“Based on the 5th Comprehensive National Territorial Plan, we will continue to pay attention and do our best so that details on the relocation and diversification of water sources can be specified in the future,” said Rep. So Byung-hoon of the Democratic Party of Korea, who spearheaded the diversification of water sources.
