[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Meteorological Administration announced that it would start the smart weather support service for the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games from February 5.

Smart Weather Service was created in order to provide weather information for the PyeongChang Olympic Games and is available at http://pc2018.kma.go.kr until March 18, when the Paralympics are finished.

Primary service contents provided on the website include forecasts and observations of 13 stadiums including the one where opening and closing ceremonies are held, and weather information of major cities connected to PyeongChang. It also provides specialized information such as satellite images, radar images, road weather hazard information and earthquake information.

To support the Games, the Meteorological Administration provides the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Organizing Committee with forecasts and observation data for each stadium in real time.

“We hope that the PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games will be evaluated as successful in providing weather information service, and we will make an effort to inform the officials and visitors of the necessary information,” the Administration said.
