[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment will carry out disaster response simulation training for high-concentration fine dust on November 15 with related ministries and 17 cities and provinces
The training was organized to check the agency's response capabilities and cooperation systems among institutions ahead of the expected time of December to March, when high-concentration fine dust is expected to occur.
The simulation training will take place on the assumption that the crisis alert ‘caution’ phase is issued at 5:10 p.m. on November 14 from 6 a.m. on November 15.
The ‘caution’ alert is issued when ultrafine dust levels exceed 150 μg/m3 for more than two hours and the next day is expected to exceed 75㎍/㎥, or when ‘attention’ alert is issued for two consecutive days and the same situation is expected on the third day.
“The simulation training is aimed at checking the pan-governmental response system ahead of the time of high-concentration fine dust,” said an official from the Ministry of Environment. “We will do our best to cope with high-concentration fine dust levels by introducing a seasonal management system for fine dust from December.”
