[The Hwankyung Ilbo] Recently, the Korea Forest Service is promoting a new project to enhance the function of urban forests in order to reduce fine dust.
The Korea Forest Service announced that it held a briefing session for the construction of new urban forests in Korea next year with 80 officials attending on December 12.
The organization explained the principles of fine dust reduction in the fine dust barrier forests and urban wind forests to strengthen the functions of forests and meet the needs of citizens and introduced guidelines for the formation of forests and selection of species.
The Korea Forest Service plans to invest a total of 241.7 billion won in the formation of urban forests and run an advisory group to promote the project efficiently.
“We expect that the new urban forest project will be successfully implemented to resolve the inconvenience of the people,” said an official of the Kora Forest Service. “We will continue to communicate and cooperate with the local governments in order to improve the quality of people's lives.”
