[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The government plans to proactively manage areas where the water storage rate is relatively low to prepare for the volatility of precipitation, and to maintain a regular drought management system with related ministries.

Based on the 2019 drought comprehensive measures, the government will strengthen the ability to provide information about drought and enhance the capacity of related agencies and legislate for forecast and warning of drought in order to improve accuracy. 

In addition, the government plans to publish regular drought statistics and expand the provision of information such as the drought index through the system.

It also plans to systematically respond to droughts in stages by establishing a comprehensive drought crisis response system and by securing water preemptively in preparation for extreme drought.

The government will enhance the efficiency of water resources by strengthening links between water sources, preparing a system for water supply adjustment in case of emergency, and strengthening facility management.
