[The Hwankyung Ilbo] Kim Kang-lip, director of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, held a non-face-to-face meeting on July 14 to share the development status and discuss ways to support the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.

In this meeting, the participants listened to difficulties and recommendations from companies that are conducting clinical trials at home and abroad to develop the Covid-19 treatment and discussed matters that require government support.

Developers requested design support such as ▷ preparation of clinical trial plan ▷ rapid clinical trial approval ▷ information sharing for recruiting clinical trial subjects ▷ government stockpile of developed treatments ▷ approval for emergency use.

Based on regulatory science, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has provided support for the rapid development of Covid-19 treatments such as preparing and sharing guidelines for treatment development, supporting clinical trial design and information sharing. 

At the meeting, Kim Kang-lip said, "The government will also mobilize all possible administrative and financial resources to provide an environment for rapid development of Covid-19 treatments,"
