[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Sustainable Development Committee of the Ministry of Environment held the “Forum for National Sustainable Development Goal” in Seoul on June 21.
The Sustainable Development Committee, in collaboration with 23 ministries, academia and civil society, is promoting the establishment of the Korea Sustainable Development Goal (K-SDGs) to enhance national sustainability and improve the quality of people's lives.
The debate was set up to collect opinions from the public in advance of setting up K-SDGs goals and indicators in the first half of the year.
Based on the draft of a joint working group of experts from civilian, governmental, and academic fields, this debate was held in the form of a town hall meeting, in which the people directly submit their opinions.
The Committee is preparing various ways to maximize the public's voice in national sustainable development goals.
The opinions of the public gathered through various channels including this forum will be reported to the Cabinet meeting after the discussions of related ministries.
Minister of Environment said, “K-SDGs will be a milestone for sustainable development that our society needs to achieve by 2030.”
