[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The legal status of the National Fine Dust Information Center is expected to be raised as the severity of fine dust damage is increasing day by day.

Rep. Shin Chang-hyun of the Democratic Party of Korea proposed a revision bill to the Special Act on the Reduction and Management of Fine Dust to elevate the legal basis of the Fine Dust Information Center, which collects and analyzes information on fine dust, from the Ordinance of the Ministry of Environment to the Presidential Decree.

Under the Special Act on Fine Dust, the basis for the installation and operation of the National Fine Dust Information Center is based on the Ordinance of the Ministry of Environment.

However, it was pointed out that the basis for the installation of the Center should be raised to the Presidential Decree as the collection and analysis of information related to fine dust require the pan-government cooperation.

The revision also stipulates that organizations, corporations and organizations that carry out work related to fine dust are designated as the fine dust research and management center, and the cost can be supported.
