[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Forest Service announced that it cracked down on illegal activities in mountain valleys last month for summer vacation season.
Major crackdown on forest (or forest-linked areas) includes incineration activities such as cooking and smoking, pollution such as dirt and trash dumping, and illegal possession of facilities in mountain valley and illegal commercial activities.
As a result of the crackdown, the perception of those who visit valley sites has improved a lot, and there has been little cooking in the valleys other than designated places such as campsites. But three unauthorized long-term campers were caught inside the national forest.
There were also places where large tents were set up. The Korea Forest Service immediately ordered the removal as unauthorized camping was expected to cause cooking and sewage dumping.
The Korea Forest Service plans to crack down on areas with high frequency of illegal activities during the holiday season by the end of August.
