[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute is promoting a project to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which want to receive certification but lack product improvement ability, obtain Eco-Label certification. 

The Institute will select up to 12 companies through the recruitment period from February 19 to March 16. Selected SMEs will receive financial aid up to 9.90 million won by classifying the steps that need support such as raw material replacement, process improvement, test analysis, and certification application.

The Eco-Label introduced since 1992 is a system that certify products contributing to environmental pollution reduction and resource saving for sustainable economic development. As of the end of last year, a total of 14,600 products from 3,600 companies obtained the Eco-Label certification, of which about 90% are SME products.

“We plan to increase the green product-consumption synergy effect by enabling the business to acquire Eco-Label certification and increase consumption of green products,” said the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute.
