The accumulated precipitation is expected to be almost 123% of the average for the last 6 months. However, the rainfall in July is expected to be similar to or less than normal, which means attention to water management is still needed. Agricultural water is estimated to have the rate of 105% of the average for the national agricultural reservoirs, and the soil moisture is good, so it is expected that there will be no agricultural drought in the spring.
For life and industrial water, water reserve rate of multipurpose dams in Korea is 118% of the previous year. However, 16 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do, Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do , which use low water supply sources such as Unmun Dam and Milyang Dam, are at drought caution level.

The government plans to take preemptive measures to stockpile water in some areas with low water reserve rates.

"It is expected that there will be no drought during farming period this year, we are asking the public to make a water saving campaign in everyday life, as water shortages due to climate change are ongoing," said an official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
