[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will carry out a nationwide inspection of rainwater storage facilities in cooperation with private experts from 21 to 25 to prepare for natural disasters such as typhoons and heavy rain in summer. In order to conduct an in-depth inspection, a central joint check-up team consisting of external experts and civil servants in the field of water resources has been organized into 6 groups and 12 members.

Local governments have carried out self-inspections of 104 rainwater storage facilities nationwide.

Based on the self-inspection results of the municipalities, the central level joint inspection will focus on the area where the maintenance has been insufficient.

The main inspection targets are the cleaning status of the storage tank and inlet, the removal of foreign substances such as fallen leaves and soil in the inflow pipe, the operation status of the pump and sluice gate.

For the facilities that are insufficiently maintained, the government plans to notify the relevant local government immediately of corrective actions or inspection results on site and prepare for the prevention of flood damage in the rainy season.
