[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment announced that it will start an intensive inspection on disposable cup use sites with local governments and civic groups across the country from June 20. Disposable cups (plastic cups) are prohibited in the coffee shop (food service industry).

This inspection will be conducted to evaluate the implementation of the voluntary agreement between the companies and the Ministry of Environment, which was signed on May 24.

Local governments such as Seoul will conduct on-site activities and public relations activities for coffee shops in the jurisdiction of each municipality from June 20 to the end of July.

After August, local governments will continue to promote on-site guidance and inspection of the use of disposable cups in stores, and impose penalties of 50,000 to 2,000,000 Won for violations.
