[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Forest Service announced the policy direction for the vitalization of woodland burials.
Despite the Forest Service has been making efforts to establish and revitalize the woodland burial since the mid-2000s, the supply of public forests for the natural burial is still insufficient.
Accordingly, the Korea Forest Service has been promoting publicity and campaigns to improve people's misperception about natural burials, while improving the system to expand public trustable infrastructure for the woodland burial.
By 2022, the government plans to create 50 additional public forest for the woodland burial for easy access and use by the public.
In addition, the natural burials coordinator will be fostered and placed in the public woodland burial site since 2020.
