[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The government announced a drought forecast and warning in July that it will not have any drought in the country for the time being due to the rainy season which started from the end of June and the recent storm-induced precipitation.

It is expected that there will be no national rainfall shortage in the meteorological field, where cumulative rainfall in the last 6 months is 133% compared to normal.

In the agricultural, life and industrial water fields, the water reserve rate for agricultural reservoirs is 138% of that for normal years and the water reserve rate for multipurpose dams is 121%, which means that there will be no problem in supplying water if normal rainfall levels are maintained in the near future.  

“Fortunately for the time being, there will be no worries about drought, but we will continue to manage the drought situation in order to prevent the shortage of water in this year by managing the water reserve rate of dams and reservoirs until October when farming period is over,” said an official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
