[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment said that it recently prepared guidelines for managing low-frequency noise from generators and air blowers.

Low-frequency noise refers to noise whose frequency range of sound waves is mainly 100 Hz or less, and it causes stress to people.

This guideline is designed to manage the noise generated in low frequency bands that occur in industrial machinery and wind power plants, since noise measures tend to be mainly focused on middle and high frequency bands.

In case of complaints caused by low-frequency noise, the procedure of low-frequency noise management is prepared and a low-frequency noise is measured.

If it is judged that there is influence of low-frequency noise, the government will advise that noise generating sites should prepare and implement a noise reduction measure.

"We hope that the guidelines will help to control low-frequency noise, which can be annoying in daily life or affecting stress," said an official from the Ministry of Environment. "To create a decent living environment for the residents, we need more attention and efforts to reduce noise in the workplace and local governments."
