[The Hwankyung Ilbo] It has been pointed out that the nonconformity of the quality requirements of domestic nuclear power plant parts is serious.

According to data submitted to lawmaker Cho Bae-sook by the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power Co., Ltd. (KHNP), the number of Non-conformance Report (NCR) issued by each nuclear power plant headquarters in the past 10 years has reached 12,223.

The number of the NCR issued has been 2,140 cases in 2013, 1,230 cases in 2014, 1,314 cases in 2015, 1,482 cases in 2016, 1,292 cases in 2017 and 855 cases as of October in 2018, with an average of 1,274 cases per year.

The NCR is a report issued on items that violate specified quality requirements during performance of operations related to plant operation.

“The KHNP should restore public confidence in nuclear safety by securing quality safety such as strengthening regular inspections of nuclear components,” said lawmaker Cho Bae-sook.
