'자동차 배출가스 검증 기술위 발족'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment announced that it will establish a database according to the amount of fine dust emitted by all vehicles operating in Korea (approximately 23 million vehicles) and launch the ‘Technical Committee for Automobile Emission Classification DB’ as an advisory body.

The Committee will continuously verify the accuracy of the rating and consist of 30 experts from the relevant agencies such as the Transportation Environment Research Institute, the automobile maker and civic groups.

The Ministry of Environment will first complete the classification of the 5th grade vehicle, which is to be restricted in the Seoul metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi-do) by the end of November, and will announce the result to the owners of the vehicle from December 1.

According to the regulation on the calculation of the emission grade of automobiles, electric cars and hydrogen cars are rated the 1st grade, gasoline and gas vehicles, the 1st to 5th grade, diesel vehicles are the 3rd grade, and old diesel cars are the 5th grade.
