[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Meteorological Administration and the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science said on May 10 that they signed a memorandum of understanding to promote mutual cooperation.

The agreement is aimed at mutual cooperation between the two organizations in coping with climate change in the country and in order to standardize and improve the quality of observation and monitoring technologies in the areas of weather, climate and earthquake.

The two organizations have worked together to develop standard analysis techniques for greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, methane and sulphur hexafluoride.

“We expect to be able to provide more precise meteorological, climate, and seismic observation information to the public through cooperation with the Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science,” said Kim Jong-seok, Administrator of the Korea Meteorological Administration.
