[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Environment said that 8,457 children's activity areas were inspected last year and 1,315 of them, 15.5%, were found to have violated environmental safety management standards.

Local governments and education offices have issued orders to improve facilities that violate environmental safety standards, and 1,297, or 98%, of the facilities completed improvement as of May 13.

Among the 1,315 violation facilities, 1,270 cases (96.6%) exceeded the heavy metal standards of paints and finishes.

The Ministry of Environment is continuously promoting the distribution of environmental safety management brochures and consulting visits to specialized educational institutions so that owners of children's activity areas can better fulfill environmental safety standards.
