[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Seoul International Forum on Air Quality Improvement 2019 will take place for two days from May 22 to 23 to discuss policies to solve fine dust problems in Asia.

Marking the ninth anniversary this year, 35 cities from six countries, including China, Japan, Mongolia, Vietnam and Singapore, will participate in the forum.

Notably, delegates from 16 Chinese cities will participate in the forum amid a growing emphasis on cooperation with China to reduce fine dust.

Seoul plans to create an opportunity to expand cooperation with Beijing and other participating cities at a time when Korea-China channels on fine dust are emphasized and multilateral cooperation is important.

Local governments such as Gyeonggi-do, Incheon Metropolitan City, Jeollanam-do and Gyeongsangnam-do will participate in the forum. In addition, a total of 17 institutions, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Environment, and universities such as Seoul National University and civic groups, will participate.
