Rice quality drops due to temperature rise'더우면 밥맛 떨어져... 온도상승으로 쌀 품질 저하'

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Rural Development Administration has prepared countermeasures after confirming that the quality of rice is falling due to the rise in temperatures caused by climate change.

According to the Rural Development Administration on January 31, the summer period in Korea has been extended by 19 days over the past 100 years, and the temperature of rice growing has been increasing by 0.4~0.5℃ over the last 10 years.

The best average temperature during the period of rice ripening is 22°C and the higher the temperature, the poorer the quality of rice becomes.

The Rural Development Administration analyzed the big data such as rice cultivation and weather to reveal the optimal transplanting time for each region.

By controlling the timing of rice transplanting, avoiding high temperatures while rice is ripened can prevent the quality of rice from deteriorating.
