[The Hwankyung Ilbo] Seoul announced that it will spend 42 billion won and supply 3,446 electric and hydrogen cars to the private sector.

The additional supply vehicles include 1,755 electric passenger cars, 1,259 electric motorcycle cars and 432 hydrogen passenger cars.

As of July 2019, 16,202 electric vehicles and 146 hydrogen were supplied.

The application for additional supply began on Monday, September 2, and is targeted at individuals and companies with addresses in Seoul who want to purchase electric and hydrogen cars.

Purchasing subsidies, which are provided to promote the distribution of eco-friendly vehicles, will be provided differently for each vehicle model depending on vehicle performance and the effects of improving the atmospheric environment.

Electric and hydrogen cars can save about 600,000 won more than diesel cars and 1.2 ~ 1.5 million won more than gasoline cars.

“With citizens` growing interest in fine dust, the demand for eco-friendly cars is rising sharply,” said an official from the Seoul Government. “In response to the demand for the purchase, Seoul will expand the supply of eco-friendly cars and the charging infrastructure to make it easier for citizens to use.”
