[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The fine dust seasonal management system will be implemented from December 1st.

The restriction on the operation of emission-grade 5 vehicles in the metropolitan area will be guided and promoted until January next year, and a full-scale crackdown will be carried out from February.

Institutions subject to public sector vehicle alternate no driving day restriction are administrative and public agencies located in the metropolitan area (Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi-do) and six metropolitan cities (Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, Daejeon, Ulsan, Sejong).

A private inspection team has been formed for the first time this year to increase the number of inspectors monitoring fine dust. The number of inspectors will be increased to 700 by the end of this year and will be maintained at 1,000 from next year.

The installation rate of air purifiers in kindergartens, schools (including elementary, middle, high, and special) nationwide is currently around 88% (as of November 26), and the government aims to complete the installation in all 270,000 classrooms by the end of the year.

In addition, the government will set up and operate a pan-government inspection team centered on the Office for Government Policy Coordination, which includes major ministries such as  the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, to strengthen the on-site implementation of the fine dust seasonal management system.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Environment, which is in charge of dealing with fine dust, will also operate a situation room for fine dust from early December.
