[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea National Park Service has designated a total of 6 areas, including one new area in Byeonsanbando and five areas in Dadohaehaesang, as special protection zones and will manage them until 2038.  

The Korea National Park Service has decided to expand the special protection zone due to the increased threat of national park marine ecosystem such as climate change. 

The national park special protection zone was introduced in 2007 to strictly restrict human access to natural ecosystems, including endangered wildlife habitats, and to protect natural landscapes. 

The Korea National Park Service has managed a total of 204 special protection zones in 21 national parks. 

Penalties of up to 500,000 won will be imposed according to the Natural Parks Act for violations such as unauthorized entry into the special protection zone.
