[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute under the Ministry of Environment said it will provide a total of 272.3 billion won worth of environmental policy funds this year to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic environmental industry and help small and medium-sized environmental companies.  

Loan applications are filed quarterly and applications for loans in the first quarter will begin on January 20, with a loan rate of 1.41% per year. 

This year's environmental policy has increased by 31.5 billion won from last year. 

In particular, the recycling industry promotion funds increased by 35 billion won compared to the previous year, of which 20 billion won are newly operated as ‘market stabilization funds’ for the purpose of providing loans for waste collection and storage. 

“We will try to make the environmental policy loans a stepping stone for growth in the size of environmental companies,” said an official from the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute.
