Introduction of Infinity Wall, 'Wonderful' and 'Joyful' with colorful hydroponic facilities.

[The Hwankyung Ilbo] Jamsil River Park will have a new type of natural water playground. In addition to playing in the summer, it will be created as a complex outing space where you can relax and enjoy leisure throughout the four seasons.

With the operation of the Han River swimming pool suspended for two years due to Covid-19, it will use this period as a stepping stone to a new leap forward and make it a complex outing space with various events throughout the four seasons.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government's Han River Business Headquarters said it will complete the design of the 28,000-square-meter Jamsil Natural Water Playground and start construction in late August.

In order to refurbish Jamsil River Park Swimming Pool, which was established in 1990 and has been 30 years old, the Han River Business Headquarters held an international design competition to create a natural water playground in Jamsil River Park, and selected "Wonderful Land" as the winning work in June 2020.

Jamsil Natural Water Playground, which will be newly constructed, is characterized by restoring the nature of the Han River and creating a space that can be used not only in summer but also in four seasons.

The water play space consists largely of "Wonder Pool," "Joy Pool," and "Infant Pool," and other various theme spaces such as grass rest areas, forest trails, and sand playgrounds provide rest in the city.

Wonder Pool, the main space of the water playground, is designed to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Han River from an open space of about 4,450 square meters.

In particular, the Infinity Wall will be built in the direction of the Han River to make it feel like swimming in the river.

The "Joy Pool," which has a maximum depth of 60 centimeters, is designed to provide pleasant experiences by utilizing hydroponic facilities such as fountains.

Next to the Joy Pool, there are "infant pools" and "sand playgrounds" centered on children and infants, which are expected to be popular attractions for family visitors.

In addition to the water play area, there will be a "watery road" where you can communicate with nature, a "forest walkway" where you can walk between green trees during the day, beautiful lights at night, and a "land rest area" and a "forest rest area" where you can relax.

In addition, unlike swimming pools, which were previously only available in the summer, the newly created natural water playgrounds will be reborn as leisure and cultural spaces for citizens with colorful events in the background of the Han River for four seasons.

Events such as flea market and yoga, outdoor performances, and sledding events will be held to make it a fun place for anyone to use all year round.

"The Jamsil River Park swimming pool is a representative downtown swimming pool with more than 40,000 visitors every year, and we will rebuild it as a natural water playground filled with unique fun to make it a global attraction to wash away tired lives after Covid-19," said Hwang In-sik, head of the Seoul Han River Business Headquarters.
