[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety said that additional measures for the prohibition of shellfish gathering have been imposed on the seas and kinds that exceeded the standards of shellfish poison.

According to the research by the National Institute of Fisheries Science, the number of the seas exceeding the standard value of shellfish toxin (0.8㎎/㎏) has been expanded from 16 to 25. Mussels, oysters, and warty sea squirts have been found to exceed standards.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries have let related local governments take action against collecting shellfish in the area exceeding the standard level and have watched the spread trend. 

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries and the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety provide information on the status of shellfish toxin occurrence by sea area and the results of each species test. They also said that the public should pay special attention to ingestion of shellfish.
