[The Hwankyung Ilbo] A total of 50.33km of decks was installed in 21 national park trails except for Mt. Halla. Of these, 26.43km was found in the nature conservation district. Decks are stepped structures that are installed in hazardous areas for pedestrian safety.

According to data submitted to the Democratic Party's Shin Chang-Hyun by the Korea National Park Service, the total length of decks installed in 21 national parks is 50.33 km, of which 26.43 km, 52.5%, was established in a conservation area.

The total length of the decks was in the order of Sorak Mountain (6.20 km), Jiri Mountain (5.69 km) and Sobaek Mountain (4.94 km). The length of the decks installed in the natural conservation district was followed by Sorak Mountain (5.76 km), Sobaek Mountain (3.18 km). In the case of Taebaek Mountain, the entire deck installed in the 620m section belonged to the conservation district. 

Shin Chang-hyun of the ruling Democratic Party of Korea said, "Establishing decks for the convenience of hikers to nature conservation districts is a way to spoil national parks with taxes. Deck installation should be minimized according to the purpose of the designation of nature conservation district.”
