[The Hwankyung Ilbo] Seoul plans to use automatic liquid spraying equipment for winter snow removal installed at 53 locations throughout Seoul in order to remove fine dust on roads.

It plans to reduce fine dust caused by automobile exhaust gas, and to cool down the hot roads in summer.

The automatic liquid spraying system in summer operates from 9:00 to 18:00 on weekdays, and operates in a remote control mode when fine dust is serious in Seoul (average concentration exceeding 50 ㎍ / ㎥) and a special heatwave alert is issued.

“We plan to use the snow removal equipment that was used only in winter for snow removal in order to reduce fine dust and mitigate the heat island phenomenon,” said an official from the Seoul government.
