[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Forest Service has announced that it has completed the planting of trees (February to May) for 20,000 hectares, which is 66 times the area of Namsan this year.
The Forest Service planted 15,000 hectares of economic trees and trees for special use (lacquer tree and oriental raisin tree, etc.) in order to nurture the economic forests and provide a base for supplying wood resources.
4,000 hectares of tree planting was completed in order to promote the public interest function such as the formation of landscape and restoration of damaged area caused by forest fire.
The Forest Service plans to plant 22,000 hectares of trees this year, and the remaining 2,000 hectares will be planted in autumn (September to November) in consideration of the growing season of trees.
