The National Institute of Environmental Research plans to strengthen activities to monitor bird flu in areas near the Ganwol Lake and Sihwa Lake.

In addition, it plans to strengthen inspections of excrement and dead bodies of wild bird within a 10-kilometer radius of the Sihwa Lake and the Ganwol Lake, and the government and local governments in charge of detecting the AI virus will notify related agencies, including the Animal and Plant Quarantine Agency and the Korea Centers for Disease Control, to allow rapid preventive measures.

“It takes about 1-2 days to confirm the final pathogenicity of the AI virus detected this time,” said an official from the National Institute of Environmental Research.
