[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that it signed a working agreement with the Korea Forestry Service and the Rural Development Administration on December 11 to strengthen its research on how to cope with disasters caused by climate change.

The main contents of the agreement include development of a prediction model to build disaster response system, research on response to ecosystem changes based on new climate change scenarios, development of technologies for improving the quality of observational data, development of technologies for analyzing satellite information and joint international cooperation, and joint research project of multi-ministers related to agriculture, forestry, and weather resources.

The three organizations have confirmed their willingness to cooperate closely with each other based on the capabilities and resources of each institution in this agreement and to bring about mutual synergies and substantial achievements at the national level.

“We will work closely with the Korea Forest Service and the Rural Development Administration to ensure that people are safe from disasters and minimize damage,” said the Administrator of the Korea Meteorological Administration.
