[The Hwankyung Ilbo] The Ministry of the Interior and Safety will hold a meeting with related agencies to minimize human and property damage caused by the flooding and heat waves and inconvenience to the public during the summer.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that rainfall in this summer will be similar to the average year (1981-2010), but the average temperature is expected to rise and the heavy rain will increase. The central and local governments will set up a systematic response system, including rapid material support in case of disaster damage, and will work together to minimize casualties, property damage and public inconvenience.

In addition, the government plans to remove the risk factors in areas feared to be damaged by a flood and to take measures to protect the lives of those vulnerable to heatwaves.

“Thinking that extreme weather such as last year’s heat wave could occur at any time, the government will do its best to implement thorough summer disaster measures,” said an official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety.
