The smart farm R&D project, worth 386.7 billion won, is set to go into full swing.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, the Rural Development Administration, and the Ministry of Science and ICT announced on October 28 that the ‘Smart Farm Multi-Ministry Package Innovation Technology Development’ project has finally passed the preliminary feasibility study.

This project aims to create smart farms that produce agricultural and livestock products with low input and high efficiency through intelligent decision making based on data.

To this end, the government will conduct research on two projects: upgrading the current smart farm technology and developing next-generation source technologies to implement automated and intelligent farms.

“We will work hard to establish our agriculture as a globally competitive industry by faithfully playing the role of bridge between agriculture and basic technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, robots, and energy,” said an officer from the Ministry of Science and ICT.
